“From one of NZ’s most celebrated winemakers Dom Maxwell (of Greystone and Muddy Water fame), comes the Black Hole range, made of single estate grapes sourced from Waipara. 2018 was a better than average vintage in the region and the Pinot Noir picked was of a higher quality than the previous year. A light style Pinot, with both red fruit and savoury notes it has hints of vanilla oak and will drink well now and into the nest 5 years.” – 17/20, Wine Central Tasting Panel
This Waipara pinot has fruit characters of strawberry and raspberry with some savoury elements complemented by light toasty oak notes. The palate is soft, rounded with fine tannins. Drink now or cellar up to 5 years.
Dom was voted New Zealand Winemaker of the Year in 2011 and 2018, and has won the prestigious Decanter International Trophy for Pinot Noir in 2014.
