“Paso Robles is home to this big softie made from the juicy, richly flavoursome Zinfandel grape (also known as Primitivo in the south of Italy). It’s a dry wine with strong fruity flavours and much needed balance of acidity which adds freshness and length of flavour.” – 3.5/5, Joelle Thomson, Wine Central
“Paso Robles Passion. EOS, named after the passionate Greek goddess of the dawn, was established in the mid 1980’s and has been crafting wines in this iconic AVA ever since. 2014 was a dry year in the region, resulting in fruit that was intense in flavour and very much true to the Paso Robles area. This Zinfandel is bursting with jammy blackberry’s, liquorice, mocha and hints of black pepper. Its full on the palate but the tannins and acidity are balanced to allow for a smooth, sultry finish. Drink now.” – Wine Central Tasting Panel
Enticingly dark purple in the glass with alluring Zin aromas of blackberry jam, boysenberry, anise, mocha and sweet spice. Look out for more dark berries on the palate with hints of black pepper, and mocha.
These rich, quintessentially Zinfandel flavours are all encased in a smooth, soft body, leading to a lingering finish.
86 Points, Wine Enthusiast “Bramble, wet slate, nori, red spice and a smoky, iodine-like element show on the nose of this bottling. The palate offers dried red fruit and a gamy quality, dashed with oregano, marjoram and a cigar-like spice.”
This Eos Zin comes from the Paso Robles region where grapes have been grown since 1797, with commercial wine production beginning in the 1880s. Over the last 20 years the area has seen nothing short of an explosion in the number of wineries with it going from 20 to 200. It seems winemakers caught on to the extraordinary potential of the region’s terroir. Nowadays, Paso Robles is considered one of the foremost appellations in the Central Coast for Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Grenache, Petite Sirah and Rhone blends.
