Sensi Vigne e Vini, aptly translated to vineyards and wines, is an estate in the heart of Tuscany, owned and run by the Sensi family for over 100 years. Founded in 1895, the wines were made to be sold in the local markets, just outside of Florence. Focusing on traditional wines of the region, Brunello di Montalcino, Chianti and here, Montepulciano d’Abruzzo allowed the Sensi family to grow from that little market store, to the global producer it is today – found on shelves in NZ, the USA and even Iceland! This particular expression of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is filled with ripe red fruits, liquorice and the sweet perfume of plum. A characteristic aroma of violet with hints of ground cover and spices stands out to the nose. It is smooth, structured and delicately tannic to the taste. These wines are best drunk young, but keeping for a year or so after vintage won’t hurt. – Wine Central Tasting Panel
